The kimono is worn by both men and women in Japan. Literally, it means “wear-thing,” showing it to be the main type of clothing in Japan. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t quite lovely on women. Kimono are worn like robes, left side over the right, and tied with an obi that ties in the back. They fall to the ankle, and have very wide sleeves. Sometimes, these sleeves even fall to the floor. Kimono are made in breathtaking designs. From flowers to landscapes to even images of animals, a kimono maker takes his work very seriously. Kimono are definitely one of the most beautiful traditional dress.
