The kanga is a very colorful piece of fabric worn by Swahili-speaking women (and sometimes men). Why Swahili-speaking, specifically? Because in one corner of the kanga is often a message written in Swahili. A kanga has an image in the center and a border surrounding that image. It is long enough to cover you from neck to knee, and as wide as a person’s hands stretched all the way out. Simple and colorful, it is certainly one of the most beautiful traditional outfits.
