Every year, Forbes Magazine compiles a list of the highest paid actors for that given year. Actors of previous lists may have surprised you. Just because an actor is famous does not mean he’s making the most money. This year’s list included all of the highest paid actors for 2013, the top ten of which are listed here. Which one do you think deserved the most money?

The superhero craze has been a huge hit in recent years. Marvel came out with films for many of their top crime-fighters, including Captain America, the Hulk, and Thor. The biggest money-maker, however, was Iron Man. And as Robert Downey, Jr. finely quotes, "I am Iron Man." Insert Black Sabbath here. Thanks to the Iron Man franchise, and let's not forget The Avengers, Robert Downey, Jr. has made 75 million dollars this year. The Avengers alone was the third highest-grossing movie of all time. And we're not even counting DVD sales for Iron Man, which only came out this past Tuesday.

Hugh Jackman

The superhero craze mentioned earlier did not bypass Hugh Jackman. He's probably best known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men, and the role has gained him millions. 55 million just this past year, in fact. Wolverine had an all new movie based entirely on his future that only recently came out. Not to mention, his Oscar-nominated debut in Les Miserables proved he's not just a bad boy.

Every teenage girl fawns over Channing Tatum for his babyish looks and his cut physique. However, Channing's got a brain to go with it. That's why he's on the list for top paid actors of this year. Channing has taken the hit Magic Mike and made it into a multi-million dollar franchise. The craziest part? Magic Mike was partially based on Channing's past as a male stripper. Why did he stop?!

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has proved to be a multi-talented actor. Johnson has two major franchises to account for the $46 million he earned this past year. Those franchises include Fast & Furious and G.I. Joe. The hits have earned him millions, and there are sure to be sequels showcasing Dwayne Johnson in them. That adds up to even more moolah.

Leo has always been a famous actor, one that all the girls drooled over. The Great Gatsby was only released recently, and DiCaprio's role helped the movie bring in $250 million. DiCaprio himself earned $39 million last year. One thing though.... has anyone noticed that Leo often dies at the end of his movies? How tragic.

Tom Cruise's latest film, Jack Reacher, did rather poorly in the U.S. box office. The film only made about $80 million. How then did he make so much money to be number eight on this list? Simple, overseas sales. Jack Reacher was a hit in foreign countries. It made over $200 million there. That's how Tom Cruise brought home $35 million this year.

Markie Mark has come a long way since his Calvin Klein ads. Ted, the comedic film about a teddy bear that comes to life, was an unexpected hit for 2012, and the cast is still raking in the dough. Mark Wahlberg will also be featured in the latest Transformers movie, which is slated to be released in the summer of next year. He made $52 million due to these hits.

Finally, we have Liam Neeson. While Neeson is nowhere near as famous as other actors, like Will Smith and Ben Affleck, he brought home much more money this year than they did. $32 million to be exact. His tactic? Create quite, low budget films that earn big at the box office. Taken is just one of them.

The funnyman Adam Sandler made the Forbes list this year. While his live-action films (like Jack & Jill) didn't earn much this year, his animated film was a hit. Hotel Transylvania topped the box office, helping Sandler gain this spot. He brought home $37 million this past year.
