Karthik was a promising player in the last IPL season and thus he landed with 12.3 crores deal with Delhi Daredevils. It was a bit surprising that Mumbai Indians didn't hold on to him and neither on Mitchell Johnson as well. But with amazing 1741 runs in 92 IPL games he is totally worth the big bucks!

His just being there in the batting lineup was enough to make bowlers nervous and now they will have to fight against him for the entire IPL season. No doubt that the competition will be fierce. It also looks like Pietersen was benefited by the latest controversy about his cricket career being ended by ECB; nevertheless he deserves this whooping price of 9 crores.

Here the rate declines dramatically from a player charging 9 crores to Mitchell Johnson who settled for 6.5 crores with Kings XI Punjab. Needless to say, Mitchell Johnson is in tremendous shape along with being fearsome and fast, no doubt he is a great addition to the team.

Maxwell settles for a million dollars last time but his not so good performance in last IPL season didn't help him gain more cash this year. But he has a point to proof and to justify the money he is bought with.

Kallis was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders with a handsome sum of 5.5 crores. He is a 38 year old player but that didn't prevent KKR from retaining him. He has a strike rate of above 100 and gained a whopping run rate of 2276 runs in 90 IPL matches and just 61 wickets. So 5.5 crores? Totally worth it!
